Midsummer/Litha Celebration 2008

Everyone is welcome to join us for our Litha, or Midsummer Celebration to be held on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the east side of Del Paso Park, on Auburn Blvd near Watt Ave. beginning at 1:00 PM. The Ritual will start at 3:00 PM.

Litha, at 0° of Cancer, is the time when the Sun turns within the embrace of the Great Goddess, to show His darker face. The Oak King has ruled the first half of the Year. It is now time for the Holly King to ascend to His reign. The Holly King and the Oak King must duel to see who shall rule the second half of the Year.

The Waxing Year, ruled by the Oak King, becomes the Waning Year, ruled by the Holly King, and the days start getting shorter. After the Duel, the Midsummer Fires are lit, and we dance between them to bring blessings upon ourselves. The Waning half of the Year will bring darkness and Winter, but it will also bring the Harvest.

We are asking for a $1.00 voluntary donation per person to help defray expenses. Bring a dish for the Potluck Feast which will follow the ceremony, and bring your own non-alcoholic drinks. WE ARE A DRY CIRCLE. No drugs or alcohol will be served.

You can also bring a chair or blanket to sit on if you like. There will be a raffle during dinner. All donations for the raffle are always gratefully accepted. Many thanks to those who have donated in the past. Babies and children are always welcome when accompanied by an adult.

From downtown Sacramento: take Business 80 toward Reno. Exit at Watt Ave. South. Turn left on Auburn Blvd. Turn left on to Park Road, immediately before the entrance to Interstate 80. Park along the street. If you arrive after we start, you may wait outside the Circle until the Ritual is over.

Open Full Moon Celebration in Elk Grove

Everyone is welcome to be part of our Full Moon Celebration, to be held in Elk Grove at Enchanted Cottage, beginning at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 17, 2008. The Ritual will start at 8:00 PM.

Come and join us for an informal evening as we celebrate the Full Moon. First, we will sit in the round and chant or sing, and perhaps drum, and then we will go outside (weather providing) and stand around a small fire while we do a Group Chanted Ritual led by Belisama.

Dress comfortably. Bring your own non-alcoholic drinks. Drums and noisemakers are optional. We may need a few extra chairs, so bring one if you can. Babies and children are always welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We ask for a $1.00 voluntary donation per person to help cover expenses.

Bring snacks to share after the Ritual if you can.
