  Saturday is named for the Roman god of agriculture, Saturn. Its dies Saturni ("Saturn's Day"), and entered Old English as Sæternesdæg evolving into "Saturday". Its the only day of the week which the English name comes from Roman mythology. The names of other days of the week come from Germanic mythology. In Scandinavian countries, its called LÃrdag/LÃverdag. From the old word laugr (Icelandic name Laugardagur), meaning bath, thus LÃrdag equates to bath-day.
