Family Activities
Maypole Dancing:
A Maypole will be available for the ladies to decorate and erect. A short lesson on Maypole dancing will be given just prior to the activity. There must be an even number of dancers and most preferably equal numbers of men and women. To participate you will need to bring a ribbon at least 18 feet long. Maypole dancing was a twofold event; to honor the union of the male and female aspects of spring and to rub shoulders with those whom were dancing.
Queen and King of May:
A lottery will be held to select the Queen and King of May. The Queen and King of may are honorary titles given to one lady and one man. During the day the Queen and King are to be honored by the guests as representatives of the Goddess Gaia and God Belenus.
Beltaine Ritual:
There will be a ritual to honor the return of the Sun and the courtship of the Lord and Lady. Theme will be spring, love and fertility. Help will be needed with this so if you are interested in helping out then please contact Sal – [masked].
Spiral Dance:
A ritual Spiral dance will be held during the Beltaine ritual. There is a lot of meaning to the dance. If I can get this to come off properly everyone will pass by everyone else and the circle will be maintained during the ritual.
Beltaine Fire: There will be a Beltaine Fire, or fires, for people to enjoy. People will be encouraged to leap the fire if they desire.
Feasting: Sometime in the late afternoon we will have a community potluck. Participants are encouraged to prepare home cooked meals for the day. Make enough for yourselves and a bit more to share.
Readings: Readers of Tarot, Spirit Cards, Auras, Palms and other mediums are encouraged to come and share your talents with othes.
Adult Activities
Go a-Maying: This activity will start around 10:30 PM. Please do some research on this as not everyone will want to participate in this activity. Beltaine is the last of the fertility rituals and this activity is to celebrate that part of the holiday. Please contact Sal if you wish to know more about this.
