Greetings Everyone!

This is just a brief synopsis of the evening's activities. I will update this with more details later but plan on an exceptional evening of communing with the departed and celebrating the final harvest of the year!

Dumb Supper - Storm is organizing: This will be a silent feast honoring the departed and inviting them to our celebration. The meal will be a pot luck featuring traditional last harvest foods. A place setting will be set up among us for the departed so they may join in the celebration. In their honor there will be no talking or music during the feast. The following is a list of dishes that will be at the feast. If you are planning to attend our Samhain event please bring dished that are NOT on this list
wassail
veggie "stoup"
rosemary stew
pumpkin pie
punch
sweet potatoes

Altar - Sal organizing: This will be a simple altar where people can place objects, candles and altar items to honor and remember the departed. An altar cloth is needed along with decorations.

Underworld This will be the main activity of the night. Death, Charon, Hades, the Fates and Odin will greet you along your way from life, through the realm of the dead and back to life again. This journey will be a powerful and meaningful personal ritual for each person whom wishes to take the journey. Decorations are needed for the underworld. Several headstones have been crated and checked out to be painted if you have a headstone checked out please decorate it and bring it back so we can set it up in the graveyard.

Greetings Everyone!

Rusty and I still need help getting this celebration off and running. There will be three main parts to the celebration, a dumb supper, alter for the departed and journey through the underworld.

We are having another planning meeting 11 October at 10:30 AM.

Dumb Supper - Storm is organizing: This will be a silent feast honoring the departed and inviting them to our celebration. The meal will be a pot luck featuring traditional last harvest foods. Altar - Sal organizing: This will be a simple altar where people can place objects, candles and altar items to honor and remember the departed.

Underworld - still needs an organizer: This will be the main activity of the night. Several people have stepped forward to fill the rolls needed to make this happen.

*** We still need a lot of help! *** There is still a lot of preparation to do for this to work.

All the main roles have been filled but we will still need many people to help with the activities of the night. Will need help setting up, cleaning up after the feast, keeping the hot beverages flowing, maintaining the paths to and from the underworld, and more....

See you at the planning meeting!

Brightest Blessings,
Sal

Greetings Everyone!

The first planning meeting for Samhain was a success and the major details are pretty much put together. Rusty and I still need help getting this celebration off and running. There will be three main parts to the celebration, a dumb supper, alter for the departed and journey through the underworld.

We are having another planning and decorating meeting 26 September at 10:30 AM. We will be painting some decorations and creating the entrance to the underworld – wear something that you won’t mind if it gets a little messy. During this meeting we will fill the remaining roles for the underworld and plan the rest of the evening’s activities.

Underworld - needs organizer: This will be the main activity of the night. Several people have stepped forward to fill the rolls needed to make this happen. *** We still need a lot of help! *** We need a person to fill some rolls during this part. There is still a lot of preparation to do for this to work. This is what we need so far:

50 Black napkins
Black cloth for the temple of the fates
Tea lights **
Extremely large metal platter **

Greetings,

This Sunday, September 13, will be a first go at planning a Samhain Celebration. The location will be my at my home on October 31. Rusty and I have mapped out a general idea of things to take place that evening. We are looking for people who are interested in helping with different parts of the evening's events to come to this meeting to offer up their ideas on that day.

Samhain is many things... the last celebration of the wheel of the year, last harvest festival, beginning of the dark times, thinning of the veil between realms, a time of remembrance for those who have gone on to the Summerlands...

We need ladies to participate as readers being the Three Fates, someone to play the part of Odin by Yagdrasil, someone to play the parts of both Death and Charon. Help is needed in painting and decorating some of the items to be used in the path to the underworld. Lots for everyone to do.

See you on Sunday!

Brightest Blessings,
Sal

Mile High Picnic
July 11 2009
A day trip and picnic

This is an event that will get you HIGH. Over a mile high at 6850 feet! We’ll journey to the top of Calispell Peak in the Colville National Forest, have a picnic and head back home. The view from the top of this peak is unobstructed in all directions all the way to the horizon. We’ll have a picnic lunch, relax, enjoy the area a while and then head back down.

Leaving Spokane area approximately 10:30 AM
Gathering at the south end of the old theater parking lot (been vacant for a while) at the corner of North Newport Hwy and E Hawthorne Rd
Vehicle “carpooling” required
Vehicles with GOOD brakes and HIGH suspension REQUIRED
4WD is optional but suggested (I’ve made it to the top in my old 2WD pickup)

About the trip: For this adventure we will be carpooling in vehicles capable of the trip. No cars, no minivans, and no your Subaru Outback won’t make it. We’ll drive North out of Spokane about an hour on paved roads till just past Cusick. From there we will turn into the forest onto dirt roads. Once we hit the dirt we’ll stop and have a quick safety meeting for those driving. The next 10 or so miles is all dirt, rough, sometimes quite rough, and will take about an hour to reach the top. In places it is quite steep, somewhat narrow with few places to pass oncoming traffic (yea, there will be oncoming traffic both ways.)

After arriving at the top a quick and very important safety meeting for EVERYONE is mandatory! We’ll relax for a while, eat and then pack up. Drivers will have another safety meeting before we head back down the mountain and to home.

If you are interested in on the picnic sign up. Ideally we won’t take more than 4 vehicles (space is limited at the top – why? It’s the top of a mountain!) Will need other people to drive that have vehicles capable of making the trip. If you are wondering about your vehicle contact me and we’ll check it out.
