Earth Spiritualists of Chicago- May Events

Blessed Beltane, May Day, and Walpurgisnacht! Our May events kick off with group outing to Loooptopia- Chicago?s all night party. Last year had a Red Moon Theater performance, an Art Institute open late, sitar playing at 3 am, and sunrise yoga. This year should be much more exciting.

We are honored to have this month?s Main Event have an Asatru ritual led by Phyllis Steinhauser from The Troth. The Main Event is a chance to learn more about a path or group that you may not have had exposure to, as well as to help connect these groups to the larger community that follows a path of Earth Centered Spirituality.

You may notice that our meetup at random coffeehouses around the city has been canceled. Look for more exciting things at that time of the month starting in the summer.

The Earth Spiritualists of Chicago are a gathering of people of diverse backgrounds and beliefs, but typically are all linked by their Earth Centered Spiritually. We welcome everyone whether you follow Asatru or Wicca; Voodoo or Ceremonialism, or any other path between or outside that. This is a place of connection between different paths, a common meeting point, a social network, and a place of healing and learning for those who wish.

Looptopia

?Inspired by "White Night" events in cities like Rome, Paris, and Madrid, Looptopia made its wildly successful debut as the first American event of its kind last year. And Looptopia 2008 is shaping up to be even more spectacular than the first.
Looptopia is energy. Exhilaration. The Loop abuzz with activity. It's the jolt of adrenaline you get when you discover the unexpected. It's uncovering art, music, dance, theater, excitement and joy around every corner. It's an all night celebration of the arts and of the Loop.?


Pagan Nature Outing
Location: North Park Nature Center 5810 N Pulaski Chicago, IL 60646
Time: 12:00 pm

Arrive at 12:00pm for a potluck picnic.
Afterward we will walk the trails together. The Nature Center and preserve are situated within the North Park Village complex, a cluster of buildings located on approximately 155 acres of land. The nature preserve features trails that wind through woodlands, wetlands, prairie and savannas.

The park closes at 4:00pm.

The theme for 2008's Main Event is "Unity and Knowledge". To promote this every month of 2008 will be part of a series of lectures and rituals led by various Earth Centered Spiritualists/Pagan/Heathen groups within Chicago.
May's ritual will be a Heathen ritual led by Phyllis Steinhauser. Phyllis is a founding member of the Southside Pagan-Heathen Alliance (SPHA) and she is the Illinois Steward for the international Heathen organization, The Troth. please go to www.thetroth.org for more information.
If possible, please bring a dish to share. If your last name starts with letters "A" through "M", please bring a savory main dish or side dish. If your last name starts with letters "N" through "Z", bring a dessert or beverage. This is optional, but the more food, the better the feast afterward.


Baba Yaga's Traveling Teahouse

Come join us for tea and coffee, and casually discuss Paganism, Magick, or anything else on your mind. Feel free to bring your tarot cards. If you feel so inclined bring a treat to share, but
this is not mandatory.

This alternates between Alchemy Arts and The Occult Bookstore, every month.


Healing Circle
Location: Transitions Bookplace 1000 W. North Ave. Chicago, IL

Many of us have gifts in healing- whether they be simple laying on of hands, to Reiki or chakra healing. Many of you may want to send energy or do healing magick for others. This event combines both. The Healing Circle is divided in three parts:

Part 1 (1:30 to 2:15pm) Instruction on Basic Energy Healing: Meditation, Sensing
Energy & Diagnosis of the Energy Body, Channeling & Directing Healing Energy, Purification, Protection, & Ethics

Part 2 (2:30 to 3:30pm) Those with healing training or gifts in energy healing, Reiki, laying of hands, etc can practice on each other.

Part 3 (3:30 to 4:00pm) Group ritual to direct healing energy to those not present.


Wiccan Teaching Circle

Time: 5PM-8PM

The instructors bring over 20 years combined experience in the Craft. Cost is $15.00 per person or 2 hours of volunteer work. Please e-mail chicagopagans@gmail.com for details on volunteer work options. The Teaching Circle meets from 5 to 8pm, every 2nd Sunday of the month.

This months topic: Energy & Auras
We discuss and practice feeling, seeing, and manipulating personal energy; psychic vampirism; psychic self-defense; aura maintenance and healing; and charging and enchanting objects and people.

Movie Night of the Gods!

A variety of movies ranging from fantasy to documentaries on Earth based spirituality. Free popcorn! This happens on the 4th Friday of the month at the Occult Bookstore. Arrive at 7:00pm. The movie starts at 7:15pm.
