Blessings Gang;
Come dance with me?.May day is upon us! May Day Just thought I would share some May Day festivities. It begins with Morris dancing at Gas works park at sunrise on May Day (about 5 am-5:30 ish) this takes place on the cement slab that overlooks the water. The sun would not rise if not for the may morris dancing each may morn?.tis true! Bring your blankets (to wrap or sit) and/or chairs. Some coinage is always appreciated as well. Ogo Pogo Does have an appetite you know (a Canadian sea serpent who dances through the crowd sporting a lovely hat). This is a great time for all so bring the children and help bring in the May! We usually go out to breakfast/coffee afterwards. Later on in the afternoon there is a maypole and a belfire at woodland park. This is fabulous! It is put on by the Fremont arts counsel and it is soooooo fun. See below. Again; blankets, musical instruments, and potluck items are great ideas. This particular event will last well into the night. I usually arrive about 3 so I can have some time in the park and be there to help set up when everyone arrives. I always take May Day off! Just popping this out there in case you guys wish to do the same?..come on? you know you want to?. *giggle*?. a bit of fairy fun never hurt anyone.....well, almost never. Blessings; Willow )O( from: http://fremontartscou... Greetings to all those who revel in Springtime, for May Day is upon us! Come one and come all to a celebration of life and spring, flowers and ribbons, food and music: the Fremont Arts Council May Day. Dress in your springtime finery, and bring yourselves, your children, and friends new and old - all are welcome. The celebration will once again be found at the Upper Woodland Park Picnic area - directions below. Events begin at 5 PM on May 1st. The appropriate deities have been propitiated, so delightful weather is all but assured. Plan to bring with you: *A potluck dish to share, plus your own plates, cups, and tableware. Please help us leave no trace! * Flowers and greenery of your own to add to the headdress-making. * Picnic blankets and chairs if you wish. * Outdoor games and musical instruments. Also, remember that the Arts Council's Mayday celebration is an all-volunteer event; we'd love your help! There's no big commitment needed; if many people each just take just small pieces of whole we'll be in fine shape. Consider whether _you_ could lend a hand for even a single hour, before or during the celebration. Volunteer jobs: * Setup at the park * Gather materials and set-up for the headdresses * Organize and/or lead a kids' game or activity * Play music! * Organize the potluck area * Lead a ritual * Clean up Everyone is welcome to share in the revelry of May Day! -- In your veins, and in mine, there is only one blood, the same life that animates us all! Since one unique mother begat us all, where did we learn to divide ourselves? ~Kabir |
